"Removing the Barriers in Homeland Security"
Excerpt
from The Jewish Week
SOME ISRAELI HOMELAND SECURITY FIRMS ARE SPREADING THE WORD AWAY
FROM THEIR HOME WITH HELP
FROM AMERICA
"The CEOs of five Israel-based
companies that produce homeland
security technologies are participating in a business development
program, sponsored in part by aerospace giant Lockheed Martin,
that seeks to help Israeli companies penetrate the American marketplace.
"The program, MarketReach America, is offering these businesses
hundreds of hours of consulting
and workshops, and provides them with individualized meetings with potential
customers and investors for a fee of less than $6,000.
"Israel leads the world in technological development,” said
Barry Bogage, executive director
of the Maryland/Israel Development Center, which runs MarketReach America in
cooperation with the business development company Trendlines Group, but the companies
often “stumble when it comes to developing their markets."

"Md. program designed to help Israel
homeland security companies"
Joe Bacchus, The Daily Record
(March 8, 2005)
Maryland and Israel are starting a year-long homeland security
business development program that officials hope will increase
the state’s role in the global economy and allow Maryland
to reap the benefits of Israel’s technology industry.
The third in a series of business
development programs, called MarketReach America, begins today
with a reception held by Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. in Annapolis.
The program highlights Maryland’s commitment to the development
of “new high-tech products,” Ehrlich said in a prepared
statement.
The program will bring together
business leaders from Maryland and Israel in order to help Israeli
technology companies enter the U.S. market.
“This is all about partnerships, and connecting Israeli companies with
their Maryland counterparts,” said Henry Fawell, a spokesman for Ehrlich. “This
will pay dividends both economically and from a homeland security standpoint.”
This excerpt was taken from the The Daily Record, a publication of the Maryland
Department of Business & Economic Development.
